Emailed to me by 4th December 2000, or send it on disk (with all
parts that have gone into your report shown separately) 100% of
course mark – No exam at the end of this module (Put
your name on everything you send me!!) Assignment 1
This
assignment is based on the scenario that you are my advisor and we
work for a small share research and portfolio management company. A
client has requested that we build a small portfolio of just three
shares but that we have a further three shares in an alternative
portfolio (six shares in total) each of which is in a different
industry in the UK. Your task is to decide which six shares are
appropriate and write a half page report on each share. You
are also required to get the share price each day for the last
five years ( you can get this by registering at http://www.marketeye.co.uk
) and present the share information as an Excel graph. The
report that you prepare must be addressed to me and should contain
at least 1500 words and contain six charts/graphs which have been
produced using excel and pasted into your report. The report must
be prepared using word 97 or higher. We also have to present our
information to the board of directors so you are required to
create a 10 page PowerPoint presentation relating to the merits of
our shares. You must include a covering letter to me with your
report. (For marking 45 marks are given for this assessment, 15 for
the content of your report and how it is presented and 10 for the
formatting and presentation of your word document. A further ten
marks are given for the PowerPoint presentation. The final 10
marks will be given for your graphs/charts using excel.) Assignment 3
This
assignment is in a similar vein to assignment 1 but this time you
are a freelance journalist writing for the Financial
Press. Your assignment is to critically examine a company
called Eidos plc, which is quoted, on the main market in the UK
under leisure, entertainment and hotels. The
article will have to be quite short (about 1000 words) so graphs
and charts would be an ideal way of presenting substantial amounts
of information. Your article should concentrate on the company
revenues and expenses. (Note I do not require any accounting type
analysis with accounting ratios as the readers are expected to be
potential investors in the company or general readers, rather than
accountants or analysts). (For
marking 15 marks are given for this assessment, 7 for the content
of your report and how it is presented (three column presentation
required as it is going into a newspaper) and 5 for the formatting
and presentation of your word document. The final 3 marks will be
given for your graphs/charts or other presentation aids that will
allow your article to be brief but show a large amount of
information {3 charts graphs are required}. Financial and other
information about the company is available this
is a real company so there are details in perhaps EXTEL {not
Excel}. For this question no real summary or conclusion is
required.) |
